Now Compare Sections of Company’s Balance Sheet
Guess what the guys at Wikinvest have been up to? They have added an amazing new feature in which they pull sections out of Company’s Annual Report and match them up. This enables an investor (ones like me, which are not really interested in reading the whole report) quickly understand as to how the company has changed its policies over time.
Let us take for example how a company has changed its definition of Fair Market Value over time from the following three companies:
Lowe’s Companies (LOW) Fair Market Value
Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Fair Market Value
Adobe Systems (ADBE) Fair Market Value
I have stocks of Adobe and I didn’t know their policy on Fair Market Value has changed so much over time. I probably never really bothered to check the changes in accounting policies and comparing them to previous versions.
But now thanks to this feature I can quickly check out the vital policies and their changes. Seriously, I thank the guys at Wikinvest from my heart for this. This is another step closer towards being a better investor.
If you guys are not users of Wikinvest, I recommend you people to check it out. It has certainly stopped me from making disastrous decisions. After all, an informed investor is a better investor.
