Furniture

Posted under Reviews, hardware

I do not really understand why but many giant furniture corporations overcharge their products, which is mostly why I always visit small businesses where you can get the best deals. A small company in North Carolina called Boyles has a chain of furniture stores where you can find all the right furniture for really good prices. They have every type of furniture you will need including bar stools, Leather Chairs, and more.

Watches

Posted under gadget, hardware

Having trouble arriving to appointments on time or are you always losing track of time? You might be suggested to purchase a watch and if you are, why not go big and get any of the gold watches offered at Jewel Elegance. Each watch is crafted with the highest quality yet they remain quite affordable. I am always a fan of pocket watches because of the prestige that comes with owning one.

Building A New Computer

Posted under Technology, hardware

After much thought I finally embarked on the journey of building my own computer from scratch. By “From Scratch” I mean I am custom building the PC by buying all the parts from different locations and putting it together myself. I just got in the motherboard today and it is an Asus P5N-d and my case shall be coming in soon. I built this computer to be a budget PC meaning spend as little as I can while getting as much power out of it. I am still deciding on the video card to get but I will most likely get the Radeon HD 4850. If you have any suggestions for me just leave it in the comments.

Amazon Unbox

Posted under Computers, Review, hardware

All of us have purchased various digital devices and contents such as CDs, DVDs, and so forth.  A popular item among many people is Tivo, where you can record shows and movies while you are away from the television. Amazon in response came out with the Unbox. The Unbox lacks HD content, but does offer a variety of cheap Unbox content to any room. Rental prices are around $3-$4 and to purchase one is about $10-$15. The downloadable movies come with usage restrictions.  Unbox’s PC software is also a bit buggy, but the internet browsing is pretty straightforward. The library for the files for music is also pretty nice, there is a good selection of music ranging from old to new.

Atrio m8 Earbuds

Posted under Review, hardware

Music keeps many of us going whether it be at the gym or at work. For those that are really into music the Atrio m8 might be a product that you might consider. Many mp3 players come with sub par or decent headphones that suffice the needs of many. One popular mp3 player is the iPod. For those that have money, the iPod is the choice for many for an audio device. The Atrio m8 is a great addition to any mp3 player, however the price is quite expensive, setting you back about 200 bucks. One thing that differentiates this earbud from many others is how much bass it can produce. They fit comfortably and do a great job at environment noise cancellation.

External Hard Drive

Posted under hardware

Many people, like myself, use external hard drives to save or backup data that has accumulated over daily tasks. The only downside to external hard drives is its relatively expensive cost. External Hard Drives can run you about $100+ depending on the size but did you know that you can make one for a fraction of the price? All you need to purchase is an external hard drive case. Just taking a look at eBay, you can find one for only 10 bucks, that’s a tenth of the price!

Why is it so cheap?

Well, because it does not come with a hard drive. However, you can place your own hard drive from a spare computer right into it and use it as a portable hard drive. Make sure if you purchase one that you know the connection of your hard drive. Either SATA or IDE.

Networking Disasters

These networking disastrs will probably make any Network Admin cringe inside. Here are the few that I thought were the worst:

I wouldn’t even know where to begin to fix this.

Antec Veris

Posted under Review, hardware

With the constant need for upgrading hard drive space, many turn to external hard drives as a source to save  space intensive projects and files. Antec’s Veris is pretty straight forward, nothing sophisticated, insert your drive, then plug and play. Sources of connections for the Veris is usb and eSATA.  The Veris is not really aesthetically pleasing, its just a black box, but you can’t really help external enclosures in general. It is really hard to design a cool looking enclosure, but the Veris does its job.

SoundWorks i765

Posted under Computers, Random, hardware

To many tabletop radios are a distant fad, Soundworks likes to prove otherwise. This device has a built in AM/FM tuner, CD/DVD player, and can burn MP3s. The i765 even comes with an ipod dock and has an alarm. The only draw back is the price, you get what you pay for, averaging a little over $600. The sound is pretty crisp, overall its a nice item, I just can not get over the price of such an item however.
