Download Music from Radio Stations

Posted under Music

I really like variety in the music I listen to which is why I often listen to music directly from online Radios.  My number one station is called Electra Radio. I often wish I could download the music from the radio and until now I thought you couldn’t. To do so, begin to download Streamripper. This is a free program that will directly download the music from the site, rather then getting it through your sound card- which can degrade sound quality. It is quite easy to use and will only take seconds. First, you must get the URL of the audio stream. Usually, you can download a .M3U file which can be opened in Notepad to display the URL.  Open CMD by going to Run->CMD. type “cd c:\program files\streamripper” without the quotes. Then type “streamripper URL” to begin the download process, and you are done.

Want Music? In college? No Problem!

Posted under Music

Did you know that if you attend a college, or have a college e-mail address, you have access to millions of music. Oh, did I mention that all these songs are free for you? And it is completely legit. No P2P, torrents, or downloads from file servers. The site is called Ruckus and they offer over 3 million songs while constantly updating their tracks.

Ruckus Network announced the creation of a digital network that unifies campuses with a wide variety of community offerings and rich entertainment programming designed specifically for college students.

Any catches? Unfortunately yes, there is one. All the music you download is DRM protected. In other words, you cannot share it with others and you cannot place it on your mp3 player. However, with any protection there is a crack to it. Doing some quick google searches you can easily find out how to remove DRM.
